The rural small business blog. We talk about small town business, with how-to articles, especially on social media marketing and making your community a better place. We use this “author” for announcements and other things you’ll want to know.
A group of people have come together recently and created a BiStone Music & Arts Collaborative (BMAC) organization to focus on the arts in our community. A local hardware store donated the materials and labor to build an outdoor covered stage on an empty lot downtown, and each Saturday this summer local bands and artists have been headlining a concert! It only costs people $10 to attend, and kids 12 and under are free. The money they have been raising will be used as scholarship funds to provide art related opportunities for kids. People bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and families to attend these weekly concerts, and it’s been bringing a lot of people together to celebrate something that is so important. This is a big step for Mexia, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

“2 years ago, I was just starting to drum up support for saving my small town’s old movie theater. 1 year ago, I was waiting for the previous owner to move all his junk out so I could close on the sale. The other day, work finally started!!!”
